Sicily municipalities approve increased working hours for staff
Sicilian local authorities are implementing measures to increase working hours for municipal employees. In Enna, the Budget Commission unanimously approved an amendment to allocate one million euros in 2026. These funds are intended to allow Sicilian municipalities to increase the working hours of stabilized staff, with resources distributed based on the number of employees affected.
In Alcamo, 148 part-time employees will see an increase in their working hours starting in October, funded by a combination of regional contributions and municipal funds. This includes a structural increase of two hours per week through 2028, plus an additional five-hour integration through 2026. Furthermore, 26 nursery school workers will transition to full-time status, and six new educators will be hired for the Spazio Gioco service at the Rodari and Salgari nurseries.
