Sadam Houssain found dead in car trunk near Borgo Mezzanone

Sadam Houssain, a 32-year-old Pakistani agricultural worker, was found dead in the trunk of his car near the Borgo Mezzanone settlement in the Foggia province. Houssain had been missing since August 4.

The body was discovered in an advanced state of decomposition. His identity was confirmed by his brother, who recognized Houssain's clothing and a silver ring with a red stone. Houssain held a special protection residence permit and worked as a seasonal laborer in the local agricultural fields.

The Foggia Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation into voluntary homicide against unknown suspects. Investigators are exploring the possibility that the death was a murder related to debts incurred to fund his migration journey from Pakistan to Italy. Manfredonia Mayor Domenico La Marca described the death as a criminal act and highlighted the extreme vulnerability of migrant workers living in informal settlements like the 'ghetto della pista'.
