Sicily road projects face arrests and disputed funding
A judge in Agrigento ordered house arrests for entrepreneurs Antonino Milioti and Dino Caramazza and imposed an interdiction on engineer Salvatore Castaldo in connection with a €3.2 million public‑works contract to renovate the Mosella road. Prosecutors allege the company Andiva Srl was created as a front to bypass anti‑mafia controls, with accusations of bid‑rigging, fraudulent value transfers and manipulation of the work‑measurement sheet.
Separately, the municipality of Rodì Milici issued a statement refuting media reports that a €300,000 grant had been allocated for the refurbishment of the road linking Rodì Milici and Terme Vigliatore. Local officials said no official decree confirming such funding exists and that traffic on the connection remains normal, with only a brief alternating‑direction restriction in place.
