Sicily students march with memorial cloth for Gaza victims

Students and civil society organizations in Sicily are conducting a series of demonstrations to commemorate Palestinian children killed in Gaza. The initiative features the ‘Sudario della Memoria’ (Shroud of Memory), a 70-meter white cloth covered with the names of approximately 18,500 children.

The project originated at the Giorgio La Pira High School in Pozzallo, coordinated by Professor Giovanni Susino. The cloth has traveled through various Sicilian locations, including Catania and Palermo, to raise awareness about the human cost of the conflict.

In Palermo, thousands of students participated in a procession through the city's northwestern outskirts, moving from the Cep district to Borgo Nuovo. The march, held in observance of the International Day of Non-Violence, involved a network of eight local schools. Organizers emphasized that educational institutions should not remain passive spectators to global warfare.
