Sicily to host States General of Education in Palermo

The “La Sicilia fa Scuola – Stati Generali dell’Istruzione” event is scheduled to take place on October 14 and 15 at the Cantieri Culturali della Zisa in Palermo. Organized by the Sicilian Regional Department of Education and Vocational Training in collaboration with the Regional School Office and INDIRE, the event expects approximately 4,000 participants, including 3,000 students from over 200 schools across the island.

The two-day program features seminars, debates, and training sessions designed to foster dialogue between students, teachers, and institutional bodies. Key topics include educational innovation and the use of artificial intelligence. High-profile attendees include Italy’s Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditara, Regional President Renato Schifani, and Undersecretary of Labor Claudio Durigon.

Regional Assessor Mimmo Turano stated the event serves as a tribute to the Sicilian school system, providing a platform to report on recent achievements and address future needs. A significant point of discussion remains school infrastructure and the necessity of coordination between the Region, municipalities, and former provinces to address building requirements.
