Sicily water authorities seek extra 30 L/s from Siciliacque for summer demand

A joint operational meeting was held between the Italian Association of Water Municipalities (AICA) and the regional water manager ATI Ag9 to plan water distribution for the summer months in Sicily. Participants included AICA President Francesco Fiorino, ATI Director General Giovanni Cirillo, ATI General Manager Enzo Greco Lucchina, the President of the Assembly of Mayors Salvatore Di Bernardo and other technical staff. They reviewed municipality‑by‑municipality data on water availability, demand and existing constraints, aiming to rationalise resources, curb waste and ensure an even supply during peak consumption periods.

The technical‑institutional panel agreed to submit a formal request to Siciliacque for an additional 30 litres per second of water, supplementing the 110 L/s already requested for August. The extra allocation is intended to strengthen the system’s response capacity during the highest‑demand weeks of the summer season.
