Sicily's Consorzio di Bonifica 3 workers to get back pay after union push

The CGIL union raised concerns over unpaid salaries and benefits for workers of Consorzio di Bonifica 3 in Agrigento, Sicily. Following the union’s filing, the Prefecture signed a payment mandate for the June salary, with the funds to be credited in the coming days. Within a week the thirteenth‑month salary (the "quattordicesima") will also be paid, and mileage allowances for December, January and February will be settled together with the June salary.

The Prefecture indicated that a transaction with the Treasury is near completion to release further resources, and a dedicated account agreement was signed to prevent wage garnishments. However, full implementation requires new legislation from the Sicilian regional government. The CGIL acknowledged the commitments but warned that the dispute remains open and the union will continue monitoring the promises.

Representatives from the FLAI CGIL, UIL, the mayor of Ribera, the consortium’s director, an extraordinary commissioner and delegates from Coldiretti and CIA attended the meeting.
