Sicob to hold 34th national congress on obesity and metabolic surgery

The 34th national congress of Sicob, the Italian Society of Obesity and Metabolic Surgery, will take place in San Giuliano Terme from September 17 to 19. The event, titled ‘Therapeutic Synergy, Metabolic Innovation and Multidisciplinarity’, will bring together over 900 professionals, including surgeons, endocrinologists, and nutritionists.

Key topics include the integration of new incretin drugs, such as Tirzepatide and Semaglutide, with surgical and endoscopic procedures to optimize long-term weight management. The congress will also explore technological advancements, including robotic surgery and the use of artificial intelligence in predictive risk modeling and precision surgery.

Additional discussions will focus on metabolic surgery, psychological support for patients, addressing social stigma related to obesity, and the sustainability of care within the national health service.
