SICOM 2026 to address media evolution and AI in Congo

The first edition of the Salon de l’information, de la communication et des médias (SICOM) is scheduled to take place from September 17 to 19, 2026, at the Kintélé International Conference Centre. Announced by General Commissioner Gyldas Mayela in Brazzaville, the event focuses on the theme: ‘Testify, produce, train and innovate: from the written press to audiovisual in the era of digital and artificial intelligence.’

The salon aims to create a space for exchange, training, and innovation among journalists, communication professionals, audiovisual experts, digital actors, and students. The program will include conferences, round tables, masterclasses, workshops, and exhibitions designed to help professionals adapt to technological shifts and the rise of artificial intelligence.

Additionally, the event marks the 25th anniversary of the 2001 law regarding freedom of information and communication, which decriminalized the profession of journalism in Congo. As part of this historical commemoration, the salon will honor retired professionals from television, radio, and print media to preserve the professional memory of the nation’s media history.
