Sicredi invests R$ 8 million in Rio Grande do Sul hail prevention project
Sicredi has announced its participation in the ‘Sistema Antigranizo’ project in Rio Grande do Sul, an initiative designed to mitigate the impact of hail storms on agriculture. Four Sicredi credit cooperatives—Serrana, Pioneira, Região dos Vales, and Ibiraiaras—are contributing a joint investment of R$ 8 million to acquire 160 pieces of automated ground-based generator equipment of French origin.
The project aims to protect sectors such as viticulture, fruit growing, and produce. In addition to the Sicredi contribution, the State Viticulture Development Fund (Fundovitis) will allocate R$ 3.1 million. Total resources for the project could reach R$ 15.5 million over five years, with disbursements scheduled to begin in 2027. The State Government and local municipalities will provide operational support and cover monthly maintenance costs through the Institute for Management, Planning, and Development of Viticulture (Consevitis).
