Siddaramaiah secures court injunction against sting operation video

Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has secured an interim court injunction from a Bengaluru court to prevent the circulation of a controversial sting operation video. The court restrained 42 media houses and digital platforms from broadcasting, uploading, or sharing the footage, citing the right to privacy as an intrinsic part of personal liberty.

Siddaramaiah alleges the video is part of a malicious political conspiracy intended to damage his reputation. He has filed a complaint with the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner seeking an investigation into the origin of the content. The Central Crime Branch Cyber Crime Police have already registered an FIR and detained two suspects for questioning regarding the circulation of misleading social media content.

The incident has triggered significant political friction in Karnataka. Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy has called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe to identify those behind the recording and release of the video. Meanwhile, opposition leaders from the BJP have accused the Congress party of failing to protect Siddaramaiah, while others have raised questions regarding the involvement of current state leadership.
