Siddipet car accident kills four family members

Four members of a family, including two children, died after their vehicle plunged into an open well in the Siddipet district of Telangana. The accident occurred late Wednesday night near Appanapalli in the Dubbaka mandal.

The deceased have been identified as D. Raju, 30, his wife Bhagya, 25, their son Nihansh, 4, and daughter Shanvika, 2. The family, residents of Balwanthpur village, was reportedly returning from a relative’s funeral rituals when the driver lost control of the car. Overspeeding is suspected to be the cause of the tragedy.

In response to the incident and broader regional concerns, Director General of Police C. V. Anand noted that approximately 8,000 people died in road accidents in Telangana last year. Authorities are prioritizing road safety through manpower restructuring, including the allocation of 224 personnel to traffic management and accident prevention. The state is also working to identify and rectify infrastructure deficiencies in accident-prone areas.
