Siddipet land scam allegations target former BRS minister

Congress lawmakers have alleged a significant land scam in Siddipet involving former BRS Minister Harish Rao. During an inspection of the area, Congress MPs and MLCs claimed that Rao used his previous position to illegally acquire land from farmers at low rates and manipulated local development to benefit his private farmhouse.

Specific allegations include the construction of a road to Rao’s farmhouse under the guise of an irrigation project and the designation of land surrounding his property as a park for the Siddipet Urban Development Authority (SUDA). Critics claim these measures were designed to surround and protect his private estate.

Simultaneously, revenue officials in Erravelli have begun issuing notices to individuals suspected of encroaching on government land near the farmhouse of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. Officials are using Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) technology to demarcate boundaries in Survey No. 325, which covers approximately 388 acres.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy previously announced an inquiry into these encroachments, stating that recovered land would be assigned to Dalit communities. While some cultivators claim they were assigned the land by previous administrations decades ago, officials are requiring documentation to verify these claims.
