Siddipet transgender community denies extortion allegations

The transgender community in Siddipet has addressed allegations of extortion, claiming that viral social media videos have misrepresented their actions. According to community members, the incident involved a visit to a housewarming ceremony in Yellanthakunta Mandal after receiving an invitation.

They stated that the family requested they perform traditional rituals and sing songs. A member of the family, who is a YouTuber, filmed the interaction with their permission. The original video reportedly showed the group accepting Rs 2,000 happily. However, community members claim a Hyderabad-based social media page took the footage and circulated false claims that ten individuals had harassed the family and demanded lakhs of rupees.

Representatives of the community expressed concern over the targeting of their entire group based on misinformation, urging authorities to take legal action against specific wrongdoers rather than spreading generalized false news.
