SIDE implements reforms to Argentina's intelligence training system

The Secretaría de Inteligencia de Estado (SIDE) is implementing reforms to modernize and professionalize Argentina's National Intelligence System. A central component of this restructuring involves the Escuela Nacional de Inteligencia (ENI), the institution responsible for training intelligence agents.

The new framework introduces a merit-based professional career path governed by a new Intelligence Personnel Statute. Future agents will enter through public competitions involving written and oral evaluations. Successful candidates must complete a Basic Entry Course, with the highest performers potentially joining the Intelligence Career based on institutional needs. This shift aims to replace discretionary selection criteria with standardized assessments of suitability and performance.

Leadership changes at the ENI include the appointment of Dr. Daniel Carlos Esteban as Director. Additionally, Juan Bautista Yofre has been named Honorary Rector and will lead a new Academic Council tasked with strategic planning. These changes are part of a broader reorganization led by Cristian Auguadra, though specific implementation timelines and detailed evaluation criteria have not yet been disclosed.
