SIDeMaST launches national atopic dermatitis awareness campaign

The sixth edition of the national awareness campaign ‘Dalla parte della tua pelle’ (On your skin's side) is being held to promote knowledge and correct management of atopic dermatitis. Promoted by the Italian Society of Dermatology and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (SIDeMaST) with the patronage of ANDeA, the initiative offers free dermatological consultations between October 10 and October 24 across 21 university hospital centers in 17 Italian cities.

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by a compromised skin barrier and immune response. It can affect children, adolescents, and adults, often causing symptoms beyond skin discomfort, such as intense itching, redness, and sleep disruption. This year, the campaign places a specific focus on adolescents aged 12 and older to address the impact of the condition on their quality of life and to combat misinformation found online.

In Messina, consultations will be held at the Policlinico G. Martino on Saturday, October 17, under the responsibility of Professor Fabrizio Guarneri. To access these consultations, users must complete an online pre-screening questionnaire on the dedicated SIDeMaST website, where they can also upload photographs of affected areas. Following the pre-screening, eligible individuals will receive instructions to contact a dedicated toll-free number to confirm availability.
