Siderno Mayor calls for urgent road safety upgrades in Calabria

Mariateresa Fragomeni, the Mayor of Siderno, has called for urgent improvements to road safety in the Locride region of Calabria following several fatal accidents in early September. The Mayor highlighted the deaths of four citizens on the SS 682 ‘Jonio-Tirreno’ and the SS 106 Ionica as evidence of a critical need for infrastructure upgrades.

Fragomeni criticized the current state of local roads, noting that many arteries do not meet European safety standards. She specifically pointed to delays in the renovation of the SS 106 and the lack of funding for the design of a second tunnel for the Limina gallery on the SS 682, which currently requires two-way traffic in a long tunnel.
