Siderno Superiore inaugurates new futsal field and sculpture trail

The municipal administration of Siderno Superiore, led by Mayor Mariateresa Fragomeni, held a ceremony to open a renovated futsal field at San Sebastian. The refurbishment was financed with €400,000 from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and an additional €40,000 from the Indifferent Works Fund.

The field is part of a broader revitalisation of the historic centre, which includes reopening Via Ianora Santa Maria and expanding an open‑air theatre under the “Paesaggi Reggini” programme of the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria. Adjacent to the sport facility, a new artistic promenade featuring several sculptures by Giuseppe Correale was unveiled, with participation from his son Francesco. The inauguration included a ribbon‑cutting, the mayor’s symbolic kick‑off, and a match among local youth teams Academy, Juventina and Union.
