Sidney Crosby discusses NHL future and Penguins contract talks

Sidney Crosby has addressed his future with the Pittsburgh Penguins, stating that while he intends to play for several more years, he is uncertain of the exact timeline. Speaking at the NHL/NHLPA Player Media Tour in Las Vegas, the veteran center noted that at his age, it is difficult to project year-to-year how his body will feel.

Crosby’s agent, Pat Brisson, is currently in discussions with Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas regarding a new contract extension. Crosby is entering the final season of a two-year deal with an $8.7 million average annual value (AAV). While he has maintained that same salary for 18 consecutive seasons, the current NHL market has seen a significant increase in contract values for top centers.

Crosby indicated he is not in a rush to finalize the terms, noting that the duration of the next deal—whether it be a single year or multiple years—remains undecided. He emphasized that his decision will ultimately be guided by his physical condition.
