Sidney Crosby nears NHL captaincy and scoring records

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is set to make NHL history during the upcoming season. At 39 years old, Crosby will begin his 20th consecutive season as the Penguins' captain, surpassing the previous record of 19 consecutive seasons held by Detroit Red Wings legend Steve Yzerman.

Beyond his captaincy milestone, Crosby is also pursuing significant statistical records. He currently holds 1,761 career points and is on track to become only the fifth player in NHL history to reach the 1,800-point milestone. Additionally, he is nearing the opportunity to overtake Joe Thornton for seventh place on the league’s all-time assists list and could potentially surpass Gordie Howe for the most points scored by a single player with one team.
