Sidoarjo authorities raid coffee shops to target students skipping school
Authorities in Sidoarjo, East Java, conducted joint raids on several coffee shops and cafes on Thursday, August 20, 2026, to target students skipping school. The operation involved personnel from Satpol PP Sidoarjo and Satpol PP East Java, targeting four specific locations including Warkop Gayeng and areas near Siwalanpanji.
Officers found numerous students in school uniforms loitering during instructional hours. The raids aim to instill discipline and prevent juvenile delinquency, including the potential circulation of alcohol and drugs among minors. Following brief interrogations, the students were taken to the Satpol PP Sidoarjo headquarters for data collection and guidance.
As an initial measure, the students were required to sign official statements promising not to repeat the behavior, after which their parents were called to collect them. Sidoarjo Regent Subandi emphasized that supervision will be continuous, urging schools and parents to maintain better communication. Officials warned that repeat offenders could be sent to the Sidoarjo Social Welfare Center (Liponsos) for further rehabilitation.
