Sidoarjo Deputy Regent Mimik Idayana Calls for Market Revitalization and Alcohol Crackdown

On 21 July 2026, Deputy Regent of Sidoarjo, Hj Mimik Idayana, conducted a surprise inspection of the Gajah Mada culinary centre. She reported deteriorating buildings, uneven stall placement and cracks in structural pillars that could endanger merchants and visitors, urging rapid revitalisation with modern facilities and training spaces for local micro‑businesses.

Later the same day she chaired an audience on the rampant sale of illicit alcohol (miras) across all 18 sub‑districts of Sidoarjo. Describing the situation as "a serious threat to the younger generation," she thanked community leaders for their concern and called on the regency government to take decisive action to stop the illegal trade.

Both incidents reflect the deputy’s push for stricter regulation and infrastructure improvement to protect small enterprises and public health in the district.
