Sidoarjo strengthens PUSPA forum for women and child protection

The Sidoarjo Regency Government is strengthening the Forum for Public Participation for the Welfare of Women and Children (PUSPA) Gayatri to improve the protection and empowerment of women and children. The initiative aims to utilize existing networks to serve as the “eyes and ears” of the government, enabling the early detection of issues before they escalate into larger problems.

Vice Regent Mimik Idayana emphasized the importance of extending this network to the village level. The strategy involves leveraging 76 Women-Friendly and Child-Care Villages (DRPPA) across 15 districts. Rather than creating new forums, the government intends to optimize existing institutions through coordination and assistance, potentially integrating these efforts with Ruang Bersama Indonesia (RBI).

This collaborative approach involves several departments, including the Office of Community and Village Empowerment (PMD) and the Office of Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, and Family Planning (P3AKB), to ensure that field needs are identified and coordinated with the appropriate authorities for timely intervention.
