Sidran Days festival opens in Sarajevo to honor writer Abdulah Sidran

The third annual ‘Sidran Days’ festival has opened at the Bosnian Cultural Center in Sarajevo. The event is dedicated to preserving the literary and artistic legacy of Abdulah Sidran, a prominent Bosnian-Herzegovinian writer, poet, and screenwriter who passed away in March 2024.

The festival features a diverse program designed to showcase Sidran’s work through various artistic mediums, including literature, theater, photography, and sculpture. Highlights include the ‘Prijateljski’ photography exhibition by Velija Hasanbegović, Fuad Fočo, and Šahin Šišić, as well as a poetic play titled ‘Kost i meso’. The play, featuring a dramaturgical concept by Almir Bašović, includes performances by Emina Muftić, Miodrag Trifunov, Mona Muratović, and Tarik Đinić.

Organizers aim to introduce Sidran’s opus to new generations and reinforce his significant role in the cultural memory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
