Author Sidy Diop is set to release a new book titled ‘Dabakh, La pédagogie de la bonté’ (Dabakh, The Pedagogy of Kindness) on September 14. Published by Éditions du Soleil, the 244-page work is a tribute to El Hadj Abdou Aziz Sy, the former General Khalife of the Tidiane brotherhood.
The publication date coincides with the 29th anniversary of the passing of El Hadj Abdou Aziz Sy. The book aims to explore the life and legacy of the figure known as ‘Dabakh,’ focusing on an authority rooted in kindness, listening, and service rather than dominance. Through testimonies and anecdotes, Diop examines how the late religious leader viewed kindness as a ‘discipline of life.’
Beyond a historical account, the work serves as a reflection on contemporary society, questioning the role of kindness in an era of division and noise. The book highlights the philosophy of the late leader, summarized by the idea that serving humanity is equivalent to serving God.
