Siedlce police prevent gas explosion after man threatens apartment block
On Saturday, August 8, police and firefighters in Siedlce prevented a potential catastrophe after a 65-year-old man, under the influence of alcohol, threatened to cause a gas explosion.
The incident began following a domestic dispute where the man refused to let his wife back into their apartment. As authorities attempted to negotiate, the man threatened to open a gas cylinder and ignite it. This prompted the emergency evacuation of 38 residents from the three-story apartment building.
Officers eventually forced entry into the residence, where they discovered the man holding a lighter near an open gas valve. A police officer immediately tackled the man and seized the lighter, preventing any ignition. The individual was subsequently transported to the hospital under police escort.
