Siegen authorities review residency status for Togolese family FAST-MOVING

A family from Togo, consisting of three sisters and five children, is still awaiting a decision regarding their permanent residency in Germany. The family, who arrived in Siegen in 2020, previously faced the threat of deportation.

In June, the city of Siegen, the local district, and the regional governments of Arnsberg and Karlsruhe issued a temporary suspension of deportation (Duldung) and work permits for the women. While this prevents immediate removal, it does not constitute a formal residence permit.

A spokesperson for the Siegen-Wittgenstein district administration stated that the immigration office is still reviewing the applications and requires additional documentation to resolve complex legal questions. The family's legal representatives noted that the ongoing uncertainty remains a significant burden for the group.
