Siemens and Oman partner to train engineers for grid modernization
Siemens and the Omani Ministry of Energy and Minerals have launched an initiative to train the next generation of engineers to support Oman’s energy transition and grid modernization. Through a partnership, Siemens is providing industry-standard software licenses to four Omani universities: Sultan Qaboos University, the University of Nizwa, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, and Sohar University.
The program aims to train approximately 500 engineering students per semester through the 2026–27 and 2027–28 academic years. Students in BSc, MSc, and PhD programs will use software such as Gridscale X PSS E, PSS SINCAL, and Gridscale X Advanced Protection Assessment to learn how to plan, simulate, and protect power networks. This training is intended to address grid limitations that could otherwise slow the region’s shift toward renewable energy.
