Siemens Energy to spin off Transformation of Industry division
Siemens Energy is preparing to legally and operationally separate its Transformation of Industry division, which is expected to operate under the new brand Omterra. The division, which employs approximately 17,000 people, generated roughly 5.7 billion euros in revenue with an 11.3 percent profit margin during the 2025 fiscal year.
Following the separation, Siemens Energy intends to retain a meaningful minority stake in the unit while exploring new ownership structures, such as bringing in external investors or conducting a capital market transaction. Private equity firms, including CVC Capital Partners, EQT, Bain Capital, Brookfield, and KKR, have reportedly expressed interest in acquiring a majority stake. The division is valued at potentially over 10 billion dollars.
The strategic move aims to allow the Transformation of Industry unit more entrepreneurial flexibility while enabling Siemens Energy to concentrate its investments on power generation, electricity transmission, and grid technology. This shift is driven by the rising demand for energy infrastructure to support growing needs, such as those from artificial intelligence data centers.
