Siemens Healthineers hosts symposium on MRI's role in dementia care
Siemens Healthineers Korea held a symposium titled ‘Beyond Routine MRI in Dementia: From Imaging to Clinical Decision’ to discuss the evolving role of MRI in dementia care. The event, attended by approximately 70 medical professionals, focused on how advancements in imaging technology support clinical decision-making in a changing treatment landscape.
With the introduction of anti-amyloid antibody therapies for Alzheimer's disease, the importance of MRI has expanded beyond identifying structural brain changes. It is now critical for pre-treatment patient assessment and monitoring Amyloid-Related Imaging Abnormalities (ARIA), which can occur during the treatment process.
Experts from various institutions, including Korea University Anam Hospital, KAIST, Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital, and Konkuk University Hospital, presented on topics such as advanced imaging techniques, brain fluid circulation research, and the clinical application of the MAGNETOM Cima. X system to manage ARIA and improve diagnostic accuracy.
