Siemens Mobility delivers 2000th Vectron locomotive to Austrian Federal Railways

On 23 July 2026 Siemens Mobility handed over its 2000th electric Vectron locomotive to the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) in a ceremony at the Munich‑Allach plant. The Vectron platform, launched in 2010, is the most sold and versatile locomotive family in Europe with roughly 3 000 units sold to more than 115 customers across 20 countries and a top speed of 230 km/h. Siemens highlighted the locomotive’s multi‑system capability and the recent introduction of the digital Vectron X, which adds an on‑board app store, remote‑start, eco‑cruise and advanced condition‑monitoring features. The milestone underscores the success of Siemens’ cross‑border rail technology and the role of its German and Austrian development sites in supplying European rail operators.
