Siemens works council criticizes former CEO Kaeser's restructuring

Tobias Bäumler, chairman of the Siemens general works council, has criticized the corporate restructuring implemented by former CEO Joe Kaeser. Bäumler stated that the spin-offs of Siemens Healthineers and Siemens Energy, which took place between 2018 and 2020, were a mistake from the perspective of employee representatives, arguing that Siemens would be more valuable today had those entities remained part of the group.

In contrast, Bäumler expressed support for the current restructuring efforts led by CEO Roland Busch. He described this shift as a paradigm change moving away from pure margin optimization through division and toward a focus on technology. The current strategy aims to prepare Siemens for the age of Artificial Intelligence by unifying organizational structures, breaking down silos, and establishing a consistent data basis across the company.
