Siena's Palio di Agosto 2024 Schedule Unveiled

The city of Siena has published the full timetable for the Palio horse race slated for 16 August 2024. Preparations begin on 9 August with the laying of the tufo in Piazza del Campo, followed by the presentation of the Drappellone on 10 August. Regulated horse trials run on 11 and 12 August, and the Tratta (draw) takes place on 13 August. On 14 and 15 August, morning and evening trials are held, culminating in the final race on 16 August.

Contrada Giraffa’s captain, speaking after a disappointing July Palio, emphasized the need for a top‑class horse and a winning jockey for the August event, noting strong relationships with riders Tittia and Gingillo. The interview highlighted the contrada’s strategy to field competitive mounts to improve its chances in the upcoming race.
