Siena authorities confiscate 82,000 euros from olive oil company
The Guardia di Finanza of Siena has executed a confiscation order totaling 82,000 euros against an olive oil company in Colle di Val d’Elsa. The measure follows irrevocable sentences from the Court of Appeal of Florence regarding commercial fraud.
The legal proceedings stem from a 2012 investigation that documented the company's fraudulent marketing of olive oil, which was falsely declared as extra virgin. The investigation led to the conviction of various administrators and managers by the Court of Siena and the Court of Appeal of Florence.
In addition to the criminal convictions of individuals, the company was held liable for administrative offenses under Legislative Decree 231/2001. The confiscated funds were recovered from a financial intermediary as part of an effort to seize assets equivalent to the profits gained from the illegal activity.
