Siena districts Chiocciola and Tartuca reach agreement on territorial crossings

The rival Siena districts of Chiocciola and Tartuca have reached a practical agreement regarding territorial crossings during the Palio dell'Assunta, following municipal ordinance number 66 signed by Mayor Nicoletta Fabio.

Chiocciola announced it will perform its passage in silence, accepting the municipal request as an exceptional measure for the 2026 Palio. The district emphasized its desire for the administration to implement permanent, uniform rules for all districts to ensure equality in future crossings.

In response, Tartuca clarified that crossing a rival district is not an acquired right. While acknowledging the decision to proceed silently as a positive step to prevent tension during the festivities, Tartuca noted that Chiocciola had previously failed to renew long-standing agreements, necessitating recent municipal intervention.
