Siena to host presentation of Pope Leo XIV book on peace

The Archdiocese of Siena-Colle di Val d’Elsa-Montalcino will host a presentation for the book “Disarmata e disarmante. La pace è un dono” (Disarmed and Disarming. Peace is a Gift) by Pope Leo XIV on October 30 at the Palazzo Arcivescovile.

The volume is the first anthology of works by Pope Prevost regarding peace since his election on May 8, 2025. In the text, the Pope addresses global concerns such as cyber dominance and global rearmament, questioning the long-term viability of human habitation on Earth if these trends continue.

Leo XIV advocates for disarmament as the primary tool to prevent a violent end to humanity. He emphasizes that peace is not merely a political matter but a personal responsibility, warning against resentment, vengeance, and the abandonment of diplomacy in favor of force.
