Siena wedding disaster leads to €30,000 compensation

A wedding held at Villa Geggiano in Castelnuovo Berardenga, near Siena, turned into a fiasco when the catering service failed to provide sufficient wine, delayed the cake until 2 a.m., and served a dirty buffet. The couple, who hosted about 150 guests, sued the catering company for serious contractual breaches. In September 2023 the Siena court, presided by Judge Flavio Pieri Pavoni, found the caterer liable for both material losses and non‑pecuniary damage, citing Article 2 of the Italian Constitution. The court ordered the company to pay roughly €30,000, covering damages and legal expenses. Testimony from the villa’s owner and audio recordings of the event organizer were presented as evidence of the service failures.
