Siero approves record 72.7 million euro municipal budget

The Siero City Council has approved a record municipal budget for 2027, totaling 72,687,358 euros. The budget allocates 17,012,215 euros specifically for investments.

The measure passed with 14 votes in favor from the PSOE and Plataforma Vecinal de La Fresneda, while 11 councilors from PP, VOX, and IU voted against it. Local taxes, fees, and public prices will remain frozen. Mayor Ángel García defended the accounts, noting they have nearly doubled since 2015, attributing the growth to increased economic activity rather than higher tax pressure.

Key spending areas include sports (5.66 million euros), social services (5.17 million euros), the La Reconquista park (4.33 million euros), sanitation (3.52 million euros), education (3.03 million euros), and culture (3 million euros). Planned investments include the Lugones boulevard, urban road improvements, water supplies, and children's play areas.
