Siero municipal sports budget set at 5.74 million euros

The Municipal Sports Board (PDM) of Siero has approved a budget of 5,744,795 euros for 2027, representing a 3.2% increase from the previous year. The budget includes a reduction in municipal transfers, which will drop to 3,397,000 euros, a decrease of 31,000 euros. Mayor Ángel García attributed this decline to improved management and a growing base of 10,587 subscribers.

Despite the lower municipal contribution, subsidies for local sports clubs and teams are set to increase by 20,000 euros, reaching a total of 144,942 euros. The budget also allocates 104,000 euros for investments.

In a separate political development, the Podemos party has announced it will refuse to negotiate support for the 2027 municipal budget with the PSOE-led government. The party cited the proposed privatization of the water service as a “red line,” arguing that the management model prioritizes private profit over essential public services.
