Sierra Leone appoints new Finance Minister as The Gambia expands Saudi development ties

In Sierra Leone, Karefa A. F Kargbo has officially assumed the role of Finance Minister, succeeding Sheku Ahmed Fatamadi Bangura. During the handover ceremony, Kargbo identified strengthening fiscal space, improving domestic revenue mobilization, managing the fiscal deficit, and enhancing cash-flow management as his primary objectives. Bangura, who served for three and a half years, will transition into a role as Presidential Adviser.

In The Gambia, President Adama Barrow met with Sultan Abdourahman Almarshad, CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD). The meeting focused on the final phase of the 50-kilometre Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) road projects. President Barrow noted that road infrastructure improvements have significantly reduced travel times and stimulated commercial investment. The SFD expressed interest in supporting further Gambian development in sectors such as drainage, telemedicine, and digital infrastructure.
