Sierra Leone DSTI and Fire Force develop digital systems

The Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) is collaborating with the Sierra Leone Fire Force to develop integrated digital systems. The initiative aims to enhance institutional visibility, data management, and disaster response capabilities through tools such as an institutional website, dashboards, and data visualization systems.

A primary focus of the project is the Key Asset Visualization component of the Integrated Geospatial Information System (IGIS). To support this, DSTI and its partners are working to secure updated datasets, including Fire Force operational data, rainfall records from the Meteorology agency, and relevant health statistics.

While technical discussions regarding dashboards and data systems are progressing, the development of an official website must follow standard government templates administered by the Ministry of Information. This requires the Fire Force to route its request through the Ministry of Internal Affairs for approval. The project intends to eventually connect various institutional functions, including human resources, payroll, and inventory management, to improve coordination and decision-making.
