Sierra Leone holds regional consultations on local governance
Sierra Leone has concluded a series of regional consultations aimed at strengthening local governance and decentralization. Led by Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, the tour brought together central government officials, local councils, traditional leaders, and citizens to discuss grassroots challenges and improve service delivery.
During these engagements, the Road Maintenance Fund Administration (RMFA) received praise from local councils for its efforts in maintaining feeder roads. Stakeholders noted that improved road connectivity is vital for linking rural communities to markets, schools, and health facilities, thereby stimulating economic activity for farmers and traders.
Resident Ministers from various regions described the consultations as a success, emphasizing the need for continuous dialogue between central institutions and local authorities to ensure that policy implementation aligns with community priorities.
