Sierra Leone launches youth initiatives for peace and integrity

Various organizations in Sierra Leone are implementing initiatives aimed at empowering youth to lead peacebuilding and integrity efforts within their communities.

Through the Civil Peace Service (CPS) project, the Men’s Association for Gender Equality – Sierra Leone (MAGE-SL) is training young Peace Ambassadors to facilitate dialogue, mediate disputes, and promote social cohesion. The project focuses on helping youth and women identify the root causes of conflict to prevent violence ranging from election disputes to local misunderstandings.

Additionally, the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) is supporting the ‘Catch Them Young’ initiative in the Western Area. This program, led by Rotary Peace Fellow Alex A. Bah, provides senior secondary school students with training on ethical leadership, accountability, and conflict prevention. The initiative aims to combat corruption and foster responsible citizenship through educational debates and integrity training.
