Sierra Leone leaders promote agricultural investment and youth leadership

President Julius Maada Bio and First Lady Fatima Maada Bio recently visited their private farms in the Bonthe District to advocate for the government’s Feed Salone Initiative. During the visit, which included a rice harvest and inspections of fish and livestock facilities, the First Lady emphasized the importance of individual and private-sector participation in achieving national food self-sufficiency. She urged citizens to reduce dependence on imported food by embracing local agricultural production.

In a separate development regarding national leadership, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has been highlighted as a model for Sierra Leone’s youth. A Harvard-educated scientist and innovator, Dr. Sengeh’s transition from academic research in biomedical engineering—specifically in prosthetic design and tuberculosis vaccines—to national political leadership serves as an example of the professional expertise President Bio has encouraged the next generation to bring to public service.
