Sierra Leone Police Chief Urges Discipline for New Recruits Ahead of Training

Inspector‑General of Police William Fayia Sellu addressed cadets at the Sierra Leone Police Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy in Hastings, emphasizing the need for professionalism, integrity, punctuality and respect during their upcoming two‑month on‑the‑job training (OJT). He warned that any misconduct would trigger disciplinary action under police regulations and encouraged the recruits to seize the practical experience to apply classroom lessons to real policing situations. Sellu also confirmed plans to provide essential training materials, including uniforms and kits, before the OJT concludes, and praised the recruits for their perseverance throughout the first phase of their education.

The message underscores the Sierra Leone Police’s focus on building a disciplined, accountable force as the trainees prepare for field assignments.
