In response, the Citizens Advocacy Network has refuted the police's account, labeling their communications as “untrue and misleading.” CAN asserts they were never formally invited to any meeting or engagement regarding the protest. The organization dismissed claims of consultation, stating that a telephone call from an unidentified individual does not constitute a formal invitation on a matter of national importance.
