Sierra Leone Police mark UN International Day of Police Cooperation

The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) commemorated the United Nations International Day of Police Cooperation in Freetown. Under the theme “Protection against Vulnerability – Building Trust and Legitimacy in Policing,” the event focused on the collective responsibility of security institutions, government bodies, and civil society to protect vulnerable populations.

Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu emphasized that modern policing requires strong collaboration between security institutions, communities, and international partners to build public trust and legitimacy. Minister of Internal Affairs Morie Lengor also addressed the gathering, highlighting the need for coordinated efforts among national and international entities to address evolving security challenges and promote the rule of law.
