Sierra Leone stakeholders launch EU-funded gender and peacebuilding initiatives
Stakeholders in Sierra Leone are intensifying efforts to combat gender-based violence and promote peacebuilding through European Union-funded initiatives.
As part of the Spotlight Initiative, implementing partners including the UNDP, UN Women, UNFPA, and UNICEF held a workshop to harmonize communication and advocacy strategies. The goal is to strengthen public messaging to protect women and girls from violence and harmful practices in coordination with the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs.
Additionally, the United Team Sierra Leone (U Team SL) has secured a sub-grant under the EU-co-funded INSPIRE Programme. This project, implemented in the Pujehun District, focuses on strengthening youth leadership, promoting responsible information ecosystems, advancing gender equality, and enhancing community-driven peacebuilding to support national development and conflict prevention.
