Sierra Leone Vice President inspects BADEA-funded education projects
Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has conducted inspections of ongoing infrastructure projects at the Prince of Wales School in Kingtom and the Milton Margai Technical University Brookfields campus. The visits aim to assess construction quality, project delivery, and value for money as part of a directive from President Dr. Julius Maada Bio to monitor government-supported infrastructure.
The works are part of the US$68 million Sierra Leone Education Sector Support Project (ESSP), also referred to as the Sierra Leone Support of Education Project (SLSEP). This initiative is funded by the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), the OPEC Fund for International Development, and the Saudi Fund for Development, with a 5% counterpart contribution from the Government of Sierra Leone.
At the Prince of Wales School, the scope includes constructing multi-purpose buildings, rehabilitating classrooms and staff quarters, improving internal roads, and implementing sea defenses to combat coastal erosion. Dr. Jalloh called for increased cooperation between contractors, project managers, and the Old Princewaleans Association to resolve delays and ensure completion. He committed to personal supervision, promising site visits every two months until the projects are finalized.
