Sierra Norte de Madrid promotes rural tourism and local crafts

The Sierra Norte region in Madrid is implementing new initiatives to promote rural tourism and preserve local traditions. A digital project, coordinated by the Centro de Innovación Turística de la Sierra Norte and funded by NextGenerationEU, aims to increase the region's visibility and encourage year-round visitation to prevent seasonal overcrowding.

In the municipality of Valdemanco, known as the ‘granite village,’ efforts are focused on both natural and cultural attractions. The area features the ‘Mares de Piedra’ (Seas of Stone) granite formations and the Cancho del Águila route. Additionally, the ‘Taller de las Tradiciones’ (Workshop of Traditions) works to maintain local crafts, including basketry, woodworking, and artisanal food production, such as cheese and bread making.
